Counter Strike Global Offensive: What happened in the tournament?

The Counter Strike Global Offensive tournament in question was organized by Sony. It was an invitational tournament and featured several professional gamers. During this tournament, two gamers allegedly teamed up to get benefitted.

Popular esports journalist, Jake Lucky reported that the two gamers in question were Kephrii and Gale. Since it was an invitational tournament, the rules were slightly different from other Counter Strike Global Offensive events. In this tournament, gamers were rewarded with one point for a kill. however, getting a knife kill would fetch five points.

The prize distribution of the event was also quite unique. Gamers who have the most points at the end of the event received most of the prize pool. Subsequently, those with fewer points received a lesser amount of the prize money. It has been alleged that Kephrii and Gale teamed up and fed knife kills to each other so that they can accumulate the most points and get the most part of the prize pool.

During the event, several gamers were suspicious of their activities while a few of them openly opposed their actions.

Kephrii replied to Jake Lucky’s post and revealed his side of the story. However, it should be noted that he was knife killed around five times, which raises the suspicion even more.

With all the accusations piling up, it was revealed that Kephrii has been removed from the tournament.

Whether any further investigations are being carried out remains to be seen. However, it is fairly certain that the gamer won’t be playing at any more invitational tournaments for some time now.
